Development
Appeal
The
Quay Foyer celebrated the refurbishment of its main facilities this
week.
For the past two years the Quay Foyer Trust, staff and residents
have worked hard to raise £100,000 to ensure a much needed
refurbishment of the Quay Foyer’s main areas.
Local Business,
individuals and local and national trust and grant organisations
all contributed to the monies needed with the remaining money being
provided by Poole’s Youth Capital Fund and Raglan’s own
charity fund.
The new refurbishment has been key to creating a therapeutic environment
in which staff and residents can meet. It has also made it easier
for new residents to meet with other residents becoming more easily
involved in the Quay Foyer’s social activities which can play
a major part in the young person’s social, personal and emotional
development.
The building work started in July and the re-siting of the residents
lounge, laundry, reception, offices, 2 bedrooms and refurbishment
of the Quay Foyer’s UKonline Community Learning Centre was
completed at the end of October.
Quay Foyer residents, staff and trust members celebrated the recent
refurbishment of their facilities this week. Local dignitaries and
partnership representatives were joined by local business' and representatives
of trust organisations who made donations to the project.
The Quay Foyer continues to raise funds to refurbish it's training
room so that it is more suitable for arts and crafts
work - a tried and tested method for engaging and helping people
to develop creative ways to confront and tackle issues.
Future direction
of the Quay Foyer will see it becoming a foyer federation healthy living
centre which compliments the Quay Foyer's move towards becoming a truly
therapeutic centre.
