What We Do

The Quay Foyer provides affordable, secure, quality housing linked to training and support. Helping our residents gain the skills they need to compete in the job market and move on into independent living.

Each young person has their own bedroom, but when first moving in will probably share a kitchen, bathroom and toilet with at least one other resident.

There are 20 self-contained units with their own facilities, for residents who have demonstrated their commitment to the foyer.

Moving In

On moving in what commitments would residents need to make?
Residents are expected to live peacefully within the foyer community, to use shared facilities in a considerate manner and to look after the building.

On moving in all residents are expected to sign a licence agreement which lays out legal conditions of stay, to which they are expected to adhere.

As part of the training and support package offered by the foyer residents are expected to meet regularly with their allocated Keyworker to review and discuss issues concerning their stay and training.

How Do I Know If I'm Suitable?

What Happens?

Accommodation is offered to those individuals who will benefit most from the services of the project.

The following aspects of an application are taken into account.

Housing Need: There must be a good reason why the young person cannot continue to live where they are. He/She must have a need for housing and training.
The applicant must have local connections.

Training: The Foyer staff supports and encourages residents in their personal development and training. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to self-improvement.

Support: The accommodation provided is self-contained and applicants are expected to have basic domestic life skills. However the Foyer staff are available to provide some advice and support.

Risk Assessment: We do not take applicants where there is a likelihood of significant anti-social behaviour; for example those with a history of violence or vandalism.

Who makes the decision?

Two members of the staff consider each application. They will, in turn, present each case to the Foyer Manager for a decision. Applicants will be informed of the decision as soon as possible. When the Foyer has full occupancy, successful applicants will be placed on a waiting list.

If an applicant disagrees with the outcome of the application process they have the right to follow Raglans appeal process.
