Quay Foyer Mural

The long hazy summer of 2005 saw over 20 Foyer residents, ex-residents and residents friends design and paint a huge mural across the four walls of the building's lounge.

The Foyer teamed up with Poole Adult Learning who supplied a tutor and equipment needed to paint the room. Within a week and a half, the mural was finished. A huge thanks goes out to those who contributed to the painting.

Focus Group

The Focus Project started in November 2004 as a result of consultations with Quay Foyer residents about projects and activities they would like to take part in.

The project was to provide a variety of activities that focused on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Funding was provided by The Local Network Fund who have provided the original grant for the production of the QF Magazine, for tutor’s and hiring of premises.

Quay Foyer residents, ex-residents and friends had the opportunity to take part in Drama, Yoga, Self-Defence and Tai Chi workshops. Personal Development workshops included the Upbeat programme, The Drama Group Practising Solution-Focused work, Anger Management, Assertiveness, Communication Skills, Confidence Building and Life Coaching. Residents were also able to take advantage of Counselling provided with the funding and some lucky ladies even reaped the benefits of a reflexologist massage!

Workshops ranged from one-off 1 hour personal development workshops organised by John Chisholm Personal Development to the 15 week, 1hour, Tai Chi course run by Brendan Burnett (who runs the Man Lian Tai Chi Club in Charminster and also ran the sel-defence course) at the Hill Street Poole Baptist Church Hall.

The Drama group was very popular and the Drama group travelled to Birmingham to perform their drama piece at the Foyer Voice Live event last July.

The Yoga run by Ash Naik (of Fitness First) drew out some extrememly bendy people!! and made sure we stretched those muscles as far as they would go.

The Focus Project has been a fantastic experience for all concerned, tutors included!!! and we hope to be able to secure further funding in the future to continue this amazing project.
